Mike Musgrove has resigned from the Virginia and Piedmont ASA JO   Commissioners positions and has been newly elected as the Central Atlantic Region 3 JO Commissioner. He will continue to be available to help any and all teams in Virginia and in the region.. Troy Jacobs from Central Virginia ASA will be the new Virginia ASA JO Commissioner and Loren Messick has been appointed as the new JO Commissioner for the Piedmont ASA Association. Both are looking forward to working with all teams in their prospective areas. If you need to contact either one of them please look on our contact page for their information.

NEW YEAR! NEW SEASON! NEW WEB SITE! YOU WILL NEED TO CREATE A NEW PROFILE, USERNAME, AND PASSWORD Your old username and passwords will not work!

Registrations for the 2010 year will begin on January 25, 2010 on the www.registerasa.com web site. The web site will have a new look as the ASA is now providing all information and up keep for the web site. Teams and leagues will need to add all their information as your old user names and passwords will need to be changed for the new system. As ASA takes this project on, we know that all your player information will be in a secure location. We are hoping it will better serve our teams.

GOLD 18U TEAMS:

At the National Convention in Reno, it was voted that there CAN NOT be any college players on any GOLD TEAM rosters. Also there will be a tournament created for the GOLD teams that do not qualify for the ASA GOLD NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. For the Eastern Territory GOLD teams, there will be an Eastern National GOLD Championship in 2010 hosted by Piedmont ASA in Sterling, VA. We are inviting all Eastern Territory GOLD teams that do not qualify for the GOLD National Championship to consider the Eastern National GOLD Championship.

The GOLD National Championship for 2010 will be played in Marietta, GA. In 2011, the tournament will be hosted on the west coast and in 2012 the tournament will go back to Oklahoma City. We need your thoughts on moving the tournament from Oklahoma City to other locations.

In order for the ASA to better protect our youth players, it has become MANDATORY that ALL CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY tournament team coaches on the field or in the dugout MUST submit to an ASA BACKGROUND CHECK, no other background check will be accepted. Also one of the above coaches MUST be certified through the ASA ACE coaches’ certification.     ALL Virginia teams playing in any Class A Championship Play tournament; this includes any State Championship, Regional Qualifiers, and National Qualifiers, MUST individually register ALL players and coaches. Remember when your team plays in any Championship Play tournament that photo IDs are required for all players.

For any softball organizations that have 4 or more tournament teams, they can purchase individual insurance at the league rates but remember if you have a team that wants to play in Class B Championship Play tournament that all your coaches MUST submit to an ASA BACKGROUND CHECK and at least one coach MUST be ACE certified. Remember when your team plays in any Championship Play tournament that photo IDs are required for all players.  If your organization has less than the required 4 teams then you MUST purchase individual insurance at the tournament team rates.       To register your team, purchase individual insurance, get your background checks, and get the ACE certification you can do it all on one web site www.registerasa.org.

The ACE certification only takes approximately 45 minutes to complete and you can do it at your own pace. If you start the program, you can quit at any time and start again at any time

and the program will take you back to where you stopped.
